Mr Modi’s meeting with Mr Musk, who also owns Twitter, came days after Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey accused India of threatening to shut down the platform for not complying with its orders to take down content from the website. The company’s original plans to open base in India were shelved last year after the Indian government insisted Tesla to make cars locally, while the carmaker said it wanted to export to India first so that it could test demand. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said the electric carmaker will be in India “as soon as humanly possible”. The Indian government said it had invited Mr Musk to explore investment opportunities in electric mobility and the commercial space sector.
