Levels of methane in the atmosphere have doubled since pre-industrial times and It is a potent greenhouse gas that is 10 times more powerful than carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere. Roughly halving emissions of the greenhouse gas from human activity, often with existing, cost-effective solutions, would reduce the future rise in global temperatures by around 0.3C by the next 20 years to come.
