Final official results in Poland’s election released on Tuesday confirm that the liberal, pro-EU, opposition alliance is on track to form the next government under former Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Tusk has pledged to rebuild relations and unblock EU funds that were frozen due to an ongoing standoff over the rule of law in Poland. The 66-year-old was the prime minister of Poland between 2007 and 2014 and served as European Council president between 2014 and 2019.PiS has had a fraught relationship with the European Union, being in constant dispute with Brussels.
