Since launching in 2016, TikTok has exploded into a cultural phenomenon, capturing the attention of millions of Americans, especially from younger generations, with its addictive short-form videos. The entertainment and music industries have been forced to prioritize TikTok’s virality as it became a societal tastemaker. TikTok’s future in the U.S. appears to change by the minute, even as the popular app is hurtling towards a hard ban date and a promised shutdown on Sunday.
