After multiple people leaving the department in the past, now, four more experienced researchers have bid adieu to Apple in a single week.
The robotic research lead at Apple, Jian Zhang, is now a part of Meta’s Robotics Studio that comes under the Reality Labs division. And yes, Meta has put a stamp on the same. As for Zhang’s role at Apple, he was working on academic research and automation in robotics.Apart from that, three other researchers from Apple’s Foundation Models team – Nan Du, Zhao Meng, and John Peebles, have left the firm. Multiple reports related to the same suggested that Du and Peebles have left Apple for OpenAI, and Zhao is set to start at Anthropic. Is Apple losing it in AI?
