SpaceX has recently closed the acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor. Cursor said on August 15 that the acquisition has officially closed, bringing the AI coding company into SpaceX. The transaction follows an agreement announced in April that combined technology development between the two companies with an option for SpaceX to acquire Cursor for $60 billion. Cursor is best known for its AI-powered code editor. Its position inside SpaceX, however, could give the acquisition a broader significance than simply adding another software product to the company. Cursor highlighted SpaceX’s computing capacity in its announcement, saying it will have “access to the largest fleet of GPUs in the world.”The role SpaceX appears to see for Cursor. Rather than treating the coding startup as a standalone software business, the acquisition connects an end-user application with the infrastructure being built underneath it. Is Spacex AI mbitions feasible ?
