Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta is rolling out parental supervision feature on Threads in Asia Pacific, including India, that will give parents new tools to manage how their teenage children use the social media platform. The development comes at a time when online child safety has become a major concern in the country. Recently, the US-based social media giant agreed to report child safety matters, including Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), directly to India’s cybercrime portal managed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) amid government scrutiny over alleged CSAM-related advertisements on Instagram.With the latest Threads update, Meta is expanding its parental supervision tools to help parents understand their teens’ usage and manage certain account settings.Meta is also giving parents control over sleep mode. Parents can limit or block access to Threads at night. Notifications are muted and auto-replies are enabled by default between 10 PM and 7 AM.
