African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA)

By providing new market opportunities, AGOA has helped bolster economic growth by providing new market opportunities, promoting economic and political reform, and improving U.S. economic relations in Sub-Saharan Africa. Thirty-five countries were eligible for AGOA benefits in 2023. In partnership with Prosper Africa, VentureLift Africa (VLA) has officially launched a new approach to facilitate greater U.S.-Africa trade under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA): deploying trained AGOA advisors across sub-Saharan Africa and the U.S. to address knowledge gaps about AGOA. VLA is a venture studio and advisory firm based in Kenya founded by Dr. Wilmot Allen, an African American entrepreneur, investor and political economist. VentureLift Africa’s mandate is to implement the AGOA advisory training objectives of the Continental Services  Trade Preferences Support program. Is AGOA a good deal for Africa?
