Apple has reportedly laid off employees working on its virtual reality (VR) efforts, marking a major setback for the Vision Pro ambitions. According to a report by AppleInsider, the employees were part of Apple’s Vision Group and other teams linked to VR development. The move comes as Apple is said to be changing its focus towards Siri AI and smart glasses. The company is reportedly putting less focus on heavy VR headsets as consumers show greater interest in lighter smart glasses. However, the layoffs do not appear to mean that Apple is ending the Vision Pro product line. The Apple Vision Pro was launched as Apple’s first major step into spatial computing. It also gave the company a way to develop and improve visionOS with real-world users and developers. Do you think that the formal employment is becoming too slippery?
