Researchers in Australia are working on an artificial placenta designed to give extremely premature babies more time to grow in a protected, womb-like environment before they must breathe and feed on their own. The experimental technology would continue supplying oxygen and nutrients through an umbilical cord, closely replicating the support a baby normally receives in the uterus.Biologically, the placenta functions as a baby’s complete life-support system during pregnancy, delivering nutrients and allowing the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide through the umbilical cord. Do you think that this is an interference with human biology ?
