All countries have health disparities, or unfair and avoidable differences in health status between groups. These differences come “from the social conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age,” factors which extend beyond an individual’s control. The United States is no exception. The beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic provided a clear example of how health disparities exist for certain racial and ethnic groups. while it is uncertain whether people of diverse backgrounds have higher genetic risk of developing the condition, communities of color will likely face exacerbated effects of Long Covid as a consequence of persisting health inequities
