human activity is causing habitat destruction, introduction of invasive species, or even direct hunting or poaching is causing a major mass extinction event know as the Holocene extinction. In 2012 a small population of Tasmanian devils were shipped to Tasmania’s Maria Island as part of a conservation project, the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program and Since 1996 devil facial tumour disease has devastated wild Tasmanian devil populations. However less than a decade later the Tasmanian devil population is understood to be responsible for the decimation of the island’s little penguin and shearwater colonies. Is it too dangerous to interfere with the extinction of animals ?
