Google faces Android blow as judge orders easier installation of rival app stores

After years of legal dispute between Google and Epic Games, the Sundar Pichai-led firm has been reportedly ordered to make it easier for Android users to find and install rival app stores on the Google Play Store. The  order came from US District Judge James Donato over Google’s control of Android app distribution. During the hearing, Epic Games demonstrated how users currently have to go through several steps to find and install rival app stores. The company argued that these extra steps discourage users from choosing alternatives to Google Play. One example involved searching Google Play for terms such as “store for apps.” Instead of showing rival app stores, the search could return unrelated physical stores. “Wait, why did Walmart come up?” Judge Donato asked. Do you think that Google dominance is being brought down slowly by force ?
