Involving third party in relationships/ Marriage

Marriage and relationships are not for children. The fact that two people love each other does not mean that the relationship should lead to marriage. Marriage is all about maturity and making decisions. Some people say one should not involve third parties in one’s marriage. In my marriage, I can invite the elders in my family to intervene for me if my husband and I are experiencing some differences. But if it was just a relationship, I cannot even tell my mother that I am quarrelling with my boyfriend, because I might not know where the relationship is heading. Is it okay to involve a third party in a relationship ?
