Iran’s new president mean for the nuclear deal

Ebrahim Raisi raised through the ranks of Iran’s judicial system, he ran for president in 2017 and lost to Rouhani, but ran a successful second campaign in 2021 amidst the Middle East’s worst COVID outbreak and deep economic stagnation. A lot of Iran’s economic hopes are seen to depend on renegotiating the failed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action that Donald Trump abandoned in agreement in October 2017, and curtailing US sanctions. Ebrahim Raisi is a conservative leader who was elected president of Iran in 2021 and is set to take office in August, replacing moderate leader Hassan Rouhani.
