Iraqi oil field on fire

The attack came the same day Iraq signed an agreement with the oil field’s operator, U.S.-based HKN Energy Ltd., for investment in a field at another location. An oil field in Iraq ‘s Dohuk province was set ablaze Tuesday after being struck by a drone. It is the latest in a series of similar attacks launched recently against oil facilities in northern Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdish region. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.Earlier this month, the Kurdish regional government accused the Popular Mobilization Forces — a coalition of Iran-allied militias that are officially under the control of the Iraqi military of carrying out drone attacks.Iran-backed armed groups have periodically attacked U.S. bases in Iraq and Syria. During last month’s Israel-Iran war some of them threatened to target U.S. interests and bases in the region if Washington got involved. How powerful is Iran to sponsor all these militia ?
