Israel said it has lost 326 soldiers in Gaza and says at least a third of the Palestinian fatalities are fighters. The Hamas attack inside Israel on 7 October killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, while another 250 were taken hostage into Gaza, according to Israeli authorities. Israel has launched a fresh aerial assault on southern and central Gaza following a weekend in which a strike targeting a senior Hamas commander left dozens dead.
