Microsoft’s next-generation console, codenamed Project Helix, is being built to run games from all four Xbox generations. That means original Xbox titles from 2001, Xbox 360 games, Xbox One and Xbox Series releases, plus whatever ships natively on Helix—one library spanning 25 years of hardware.Xbox 360 games arriving on PC, Xbox PCs and handhelds are expected to roll out gradually across 2027 and 2028, while the full launch of original Xbox games on PC is set for October 2026—the pilot in July covered just four titles. The disc-to-digital programme works differently. Slot an Xbox One or Series disc into a console with a drive and you get a digital licence tied to that specific disc and your account. Sell the disc and the licence follows the buyer. A public beta was slated for July with general availability in August, though the beta slipped. What could be the catch ?
