U.S. export controls, which aim to curb China’s tech advancements by limiting the sale of cutting-edge chips from Western companies to Chinese tech firms, have only encouraged artificial-intelligence innovation in China. At the same time, the rules have locked Nvidia out of the market. Meanwhile, Nvidia announced a deal earlier this month to deploy 18,000 chips with newly launched Saudi Arabian AI firm Humain over the next five years for a data center that is expected to reach 500 megawatts.
