Net neutrality is the idea that all traffic on the Internet should be handled in the same way and no control over speeds should be exercised by Internet Service Providers in order to prioritise services to higher paying customers, in the name of fairness and open access. While abandoning Net neutrality may make ISP’s more competitive, it will stifle competition for online services, with certain ISP boosting services who can afford to pay to promote their platforms above others, ultimately helping big business at the expense of small startups. In an era of fake news and social media should the internet be a place of free speech , should false news be censored ?
