OpenAI has appointed one of the AI industry’s most outspoken safety researchers to help oversee its own safety practices — and he immediately warned that the industry may be moving too fast to keep its systems under control. Paul Christiano joined the OpenAI Foundation Board on 9 September and will also serve on its Safety and Security Committee.
