OpenAI has dismantled two China-linked influence campaigns that allegedly used ChatGPT to generate social media content aimed at shaping public conversations around some of America’s most contentious political and economic issues. The campaigns, which focused on debates surrounding AI data centres and trade tariffs, relied on OpenAI’s tools to produce social media posts, comments and political cartoons before distributing them online through what the company believes were coordinated networks of accounts.
