Samsung Backs Nvidia AI Chip Rival Euclyd In $230M Funding Round

Samsung has joined one of Europe’s biggest new bets on alternatives to Nvidia’s AI chips. Dutch semiconductor startup Euclyd has raised more than €200 million, roughly $230 million, in a Series A co-led by Samsung, Somerset Capital Partners, the Scaleup Europe Fund managed by EQT and Innovation Industries. Other participants include Denmark’s EIFO, imec.xpand, Brabant Development Agency and Quadri. The more interesting part isn’t just the size of the cheque. Samsung is backing a company that believes the next generation of AI infrastructure may not need to look like Nvidia’s GPU-centric systems at all. What is your take on SamSung’s take ?
