SpaceX has been offering to build community gateways to help ISPs serve users in remote areas that lack access to fiber networks. The company’s first community gateway is located in Unalaska a town on an island near Alaska and currently delivers broadband to local consumers through an ISP called OptimERA. SpaceX is teasing a new Starlink offering that can deliver 8Gbps in download speeds to commercial customers even when they’re far from land. Is SpaceX revolutionizing the internet ?
