The group that has claimed responsibility for the attack is an affiliate of Islamic State that calls itself Islamic State-Khorasan Province. Based mainly in Afghanistan but with followers across Central Asia, it carried out twin bombings in Iran in January that killed over 100 people. One of the sources of its grievances against Russia is the country’s involvement in the war in Syria, where the Kremlin (along with Iran) has backed the Assad regime against Islamic State and other rebels. Mr Putin claimed, ludicrously, that Ukraine had opened a border “window” to the terrorists as they tried to escape Russia in their white Renault Symbol. Do you think that “CIA” was involved ?
