The possibility to track nanomedicine has a plethora of goals, especially the intent to better understand the role of these systems in the efficacy and safety before a potential human use. Moreover, the theranostic is a valid strategy to track drugs loaded into nanocarrier and make early diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Imaging techniques in nanomedicine must enable the visualization of the nano-constructs inside the cells or tissue, ensuring optimal preservation of the structural features and the spatial relationships of nanoparticles with the tissue components, while preserving the viability and physiological function of the organism.
