WhatsApp catches fresh NSO spyware

WhatsApp has caught new spyware-linked attacks tied to NSO Group, the Israeli company behind Pegasus spyware, and Meta says that may violate a US court order. Meta said on 8 June 2026 that WhatsApp disrupted fresh spear-phishing attempts linked to NSO and will ask a federal court to hold the company in contempt. The court order had barred NSO from targeting WhatsApp and its users.WhatsApp also says it found test accounts and groups created by NSO on the platform and took them down. Meta says it’s sharing threat indicators so people and security teams can check whether NSO-linked infrastructure targeted them across WhatsApp, SMS, email, or other channels. Do you think the private data on WhatsApp are in anyway safe ?
