Meta-owned popular messaging platform WhatsApp is rolling out a new privacy-focused feature that will let users share status updates with a selected group of contacts, similar to the Close Friends option on Instagram. According to a report, the feature is currently available to some beta users on both Android and iPhone. Until now, the Meta-owned app users had to rely on broader privacy settings such as sharing with all contacts, excluding certain people, or manually selecting contacts for every update. With the new feature, users can save a list of trusted contacts and quickly choose that audience whenever they post a status.Any changes made to the list will apply to future status updates only. Updates that have already been posted will remain visible to the audience selected at the time of sharing. Is the privacy feature of any such importance ?
