World Health Organization has been instrumental in a number of public health breakthroughs, such as eradicating smallpox, nearly eradicating polio, and the development of an Ebola virus vaccine. However during the COVID-19 pandemic the agency has come under increased criticism as numerous governments have pointed to failings in the WHO’s reaction to the outbreak.
